The LA Times' lead on-line story at the moment is an account, in their words of "how the nature and timing of McCain's divorce from his first wife alienated friends such as the Reagans and how his version of events don't match court documents". Whether the various media outlets pickup this story will be an interesting gague on whether or not the MSM deems McCain's character issues as being relevant to the campaign. My guess is that they will treat this as if it never happened as it doesn't play into their narrative of McCain as the straight talk candidate.

Ron Christie, a former advisor to Bush II and assistant to Cheney, defended the new GOP race baiting "Playboy Party" attack ad against Harold Ford on Hardball this afternoon. Christie, himself a black man, stated that he saw nothing wrong in the ad that featured a racy blond woman beckoning Harold Ford to give her a call with a suggestive look and wink.
It looks like CNN succumbed to pressure to be more "balanced" by running a misleading story on Harry Reid's land deal titled "Reid's Jackpot". This report was billed as the second biggest story of the day after the intro teaser on the lastest Foley scandal developements on Lou Dobb's show today. Balanced indeed.
Salon just posted another account of a new witness who has emerged to attest to Allen's racist past. This time, it is not only the "N word" but also a slur against Latinos.
"A former football teammate of Sen. George Allen decided Friday to go on the record with recollections of the Virginia Republican's alleged racist behavior during college."
Allen appeared on Wolf Blitzer today and basically blamed his mother for his recent denial of his Jewish heritage while actually knowing the truth. In what was billed as an emotional interview with Allen, Blitzer asked the Virginia Senator about his Jewish heritage and why he denied the truth depsite finding out about this family history from his mother and why he appeared so sensitive to questioning on this topic.
Melinda Duckett, the mother of a child missing in Florida for more than two weeks, committed suicide after being bullied in an interview with CNN's Nancy Grace.
Joe Scarborough had a panel on today discussing the ABC 9/11 docudrama with three guests including former Counter Terrorism Offical Roger Cressey who worked under Clinton and Bush and was Richard Clarke's deputy at the time the terrorist strike of 9/11 occured.
CNN just announced that Porter Goss is to resign from CIA.
Well, it sounds like the Hookergate scandal really does have some legs and that the "highly placed intelligence official" rumoured to involved was Goss or someone very close to him. It will be very interesting to see how this story develops. Fasten your seat belts everyone!
